Our Story

The Livewire Story

Livewire Theatre Co was formed in 2007 by Artistic Director, Nikki McCabe. With a background in Acting and Lecturing in Further Education, Nikki’s vision to create a performing arts school where young people could flourish, was informed by her passion for Education in the Arts.

Livewire Theatre Company has since evolved into a thriving theatre school offering a broad range of classes and services to people of all ages and abilities. The weekly class programme offers children and young people the opportunity to engage in high-quality, extra-curricular classes (across three branches; Troon, Stewarton and Newton Mearns) which provide the opportunity to develop skills in acting, singing, dancing and performing. At Livewire Theatre Company, we are committed to equipping our students with a toolkit of vital transferable skills, such as confidence, communication and teamwork, which we believe, helps to prepare students for the ‘performance of life!’

This year’s highlights at Livewire Theatre Co have so far included the launch of our brand new Acting for Camera classes, the ongoing success of our Dementia-friendly theatre group, our Primary 7 School Leavers’ ‘Show In a Week’ uptake, School Productions and Workshops and the fast-growth of our Dance Party services, Holiday Camps and Themed Workshops.

At Livewire Theatre Co, our friendly and professional team of staff pride themselves on focusing on the individual, ensuring that every child receives a unique, fun and fulfilling experience. By instilling self-belief, students gain increased confidence and learn to value their own personal skills and traits, leading them to become more rounded individuals who are ready to tackle challenges personally and educationally, succeed on and off stage and SHINE in all that they do!

At Livewire Theatre Co, our friendly and experienced teaching team strive to ensure that students make consistent progress at weekly classes. We provide a fun, safe and supportive environment where our aim is to build confidence, foster new friendships, develop skills in performing arts and support young people to freely express themselves, helping them to meet their maximum creative potential.

We pride ourselves on our excellent customer service where we greatly value our pupils' families time! We continually strive to ensure that your experience is easy and hassle-free, from booking classes and holiday camps to your child being involved in our productions! We are exceptionally proud of the thriving theatre school that we have built and the opportunities, invaluable experiences and unforgettable memories that it offers young people!

Nikki McCabe, Director

Our girls both attended Livewire for over 10 years, since they were 3 & 5 years old. The experiences they have gained during this time have been invaluable. They performed in The Palace Theatre, were involved in all aspects of musical theatre & dance, gained self confidence & self worth which will stay with them forever. Even during lockdown Wednesday night was still Livewire night! They have both gone on to become helpers with the junior classes. But the biggest take away from attending Livewire has been the fun they have had! We would wholeheartedly recommend Livewire!
